This comedy takes off when the punctilious accountant, Arthur Pullen, turns up for work on a Saturday morning and discovers his boss, Sir Justin Holbrook, in the company’s penthouse flat with a call girl. After the subsequent unexpected arrival of Lady Holbrook, Sir Justin passes off the call girl as "the second Mrs. Pullen," and lays the groundwork for a seemingly impenetrable maze of mistaken identities and subterfuges involving the real Mrs. Pullen, Sir Holbrook’s boss, a rich Arab Sheik, a beleaguered lawyer, and a disoriented physician.
