    Sunday, Monday, & Wednesday evenings, from 6:30 – 9:30 pm, beginning March 10.

    All rehearsals and performances will be at Calliope Theatre, 150 Main Street, Boylston, MA

    May 16, 17, 18, 19, 24, 25, and 26:

    • 7:30 pm performances on Thu., Fri., Sat. (Thursday first weekend only)
    • 2:00 pm matinee performances on Sundays.

    Sing a song that shows the range of your voice. You may sing a song from the show. If singing a song that is not from the show, you must bring sheet music for the pianist.

    Give cold readings from the script.

    Demonstrate your dance skills in a group audition.

    The Characters

    Seymour Krelborn – (Presented as a Male) Age: 25 – 35. An insecure, put-upon florist’s clerk and eventual hero. His is a genuine, well-meaning man who is taken for granted because of his clumsy ways and poor social skills. Vocal range top: G4 Vocal range bottom: A2

    Audrey - (Presented as a Female) Age: 25 - 35. The bleached blond, Billie Dawn-like secret love of Seymour’s life. She has a damaged sense of self-worth and little education but is incredibly good looking and has a sweet and vulnerable demeanor. Vocal range top: D5 Vocal range bottom: G#3

    Mr. Mushnik – (Presented as a Male) Age: 55 – 65. The seasoned owner of a failing and run-down East Side New York City flower shop, and Seymour’s gruff and nosy boss. He is profit-driven, greedy, and manipulative. Vocal range top: F4 Vocal range bottom: G2

    Orin Scrivello – (Presented as a Male) Age: 30 – 40. Audrey’s abusive boyfriend and an egotistical dentist with a passion for leather and a tendency to be sadistic. Vocal range top: G4 Vocal range bottom: G2 Note: This actor also plays several other minor roles.

    Crystal, Ronnette, & Chiffon – (Presented as Females by persons of color) Ages: 20m – 35. These are three street urchins who act as an occasional Greek chorus. Young, hip, and smart, they are the only ones in the cast who have a grip on reality. Vocal range top: F5 Vocal range bottom: Ab3

    Voice of the Plant – (Offstage Voice) Age: 20 – 50. A conniving street-smart villain, with a funky Rhythm-and-Blues voice. Vocal range top: F5 Vocal range bottom: G2

     

    A Note from MTI (Music Theatre International):

    The descriptions of the set and characters for "Little Shop of Horrors" were derived from the original 1982 production's Stage Manager's script and are not meant to restrict the way in which licensees stage or cast their productions of the show. Rather, they are an insight into how that production was presented.

    In casting your show, an inclusive approach is suggested. While any actor can play any role in the show (i.e., there are no requirements or restrictions other than to perform the book, music and lyrics as written), it is encouraged that the roles of Crystal, Ronnette, and Chiffon be played by actors of color. There is no such suggestion with regard to any of the other characters, regardless of how those characters have been cast in other productions. The gender of the characters, however, must remain as written in the script.
