Calliope is accepting audition submissions for Murdered to Death - a British comedy by Peter Gordon.

This hilarious spoof of the best of Agatha Christie traditions is set in an English country manor house in the 1930's, with an assembled cast of characters guaranteed to delight, including an oddly-behaving butler, an English Colonel with a stiff upper lip, a shady French art dealer and his moll, a bumbling police inspector, and a well-meaning amateur sleuth who seems to attract murder wherever she goes. They all get caught up in the side-splitting antics which follow the mysterious death of the house’s owner. It soon becomes clear, however, that the murderer isn’t finished yet. What is not clear is whether the murderer will be unmasked before all else have met their dooms, or will the audience die laughing first?

The Cast

Five women and five men:

  • MILDRED The domineering and moderately wealthy owner of Bagshot House. In her 50's.
  • DOROTHY. Mildred’s niece. In her late 20's, and rather plain.
  • BUNTING The butler. In his late 50's or 60's. Slow, pedantic, and rather creepy.
  • COLONEL CHARLES CRADDOCK A bit of a lady's man. In his late 50's. Confident but blustering.
  • MARGARET CRADDOCK The long-suffering but acerbic wife of Colonel Craddock. In her mid-50's.
  • ELIZABETH HARTLEY-TRUMPINGTON Attractive and stunning. In her late 20's or 30's. Very "high society."
  • PIERRE MARCEU A French art dealer in his 40's. Has an exaggerated (and fake) French accent.
  • JOAN MAPLE A spinster in her 50's or 60's. Very direct.
  • CONSTABLE THOMKINS A very bright village policeman. In his 30's.
  • INSPECTOR PRATT An inept, posing, and clumsy police inspector. In his 40's or early 50's.
